Council of Ministers extends Tigray Interim Admin term by one year

The Ethiopian Council of Ministers has extended the term of Tigray Interim Administration (TIA) by one additional year. Based on the Council’s decision, PM Abiy Ahmed has approved General Tadesse Worede, to continue serving as TIA president for the next one year. This is the second time the TIA term is extended.

TIA was established in March 2023, following the Pretoria agreement. As its initial term expired exactly last year, Tadesse overtook the presidency from previous president Getachew Reda, who is since PM Abiy advisor on East African Affairs.

General Tadesse was in Addis Ababa this week, presenting the TIA performance to the PM and national security officials.
